The Naval Science Department yesterday received orders from Washington cancelling the Pacific cruise planned for this summer because of uncertainty arising from the European war.
Ten students had been chosen to take a month's trip on U. S. battleships at the expense of the government provided that they pay their own way as far as the west coast.
The cancelling of the project is apparently due to the fact that the fleet manoeuvres in the Pacific may not be held on account of the war. At present the fleet is being held at Honolulu.
The cruise scheduled for the east coast will take place as planned, it was announced.
