It was learned last night that knight W. McMahan '33 and Steven H. Stackpole '33, both assistant deans of Harvard College, will resign at the end of the current academic year. Announcement of their successors will be made later in the spring.

Stackpole has accepted a position as assistant to the President of the Carnegie Corporation of New York while McMahan will be a Philosophy instructor at Mount Holyoke College.

Both Are Proctors

The Carnegie Corporation should be distinguished from the Carnegie Foundation. It is a fund of $125,000,000 similar to the Rockefeller Foundation devoted to the "diffuse of knowledge in the United States and the Dominions," particularly in art and music.

Previous to becoming dean, Stackpole served as Secretary to President Conant and as dean he has had charge of the Junior and Senior Classes as well as the proctors outside of the Yard., He is also a proctor in Grays Hall.

McMahan is an instructor and tutor in Philosophy and a proctor in Massachusetts Hall. While in college he was first marshal of Phi Beta kappa, majoring in Philosophy.
