PROFESSOR LEONTIEF OBTAINS FELLOWSHIP

Edsall, Dos Passos Also Will Receive Guggeheim Memorial Awards for Study Next Year

Among the recipients of the 73 Guggenheim Fellowships-this year is Wassily W. Leontief, associate professor of Economics, whose project will be the preparation of a book on mathematical economics.

Professor Leontief, a Russian-born scholar who took his doctorate at the University of Berlin in 1928, was for two years adviser to the Chinese Ministry of Railways. He is co-author of a book, "Economics of the Recovery Program," and of numerous articles in periodicals.

Other fellows include John Tileston Edsall '23, associate professor of Biological Chemistry, who will work at studies in physical chemistry, and John Dos Passos '16, who will work on a continuation of a series of essays on the basis of the present American conceptions of freedom of thought.
