Breaking a custom of long standing, the Harvard Dramatic Club has decided to stage its spring play, "The Ascent of F6," with three student directors father than professionals, John Profit will be chief director, assisted by Samuel R. Sheppared '42 and Jervis B. McMachan '42.
"The Club has wanted to produce its play for a long time, and this seems to be the best opportunity." Sheppard, the president, stated. Norris Houghton was asked to stage the play, but he was occupied with a study of the theatre financed by a Rockefeller grant.
The question came up whether student directors would prove equal to the job, but Profit has had expensive experience in the theatre particularly in London where he has stage several musicals. Sheppared and McMechan have both woked in summer theatres.
