It was a nip and tuck ball game on Soldiers Field yesterday afternoon with neither team displaying any scoring punch, but the underdog Terrier nine from Boston University finally squeezed out an unearned run in the sixth inning to finish up on the winning end of a 1 to 0 count. In an informal game, the Yardling nine downed Newton High School 5 to 2.
The Stahlmen outhit their opponents seven to six but never seemed to be able to connect in the pinches when potential runs were on base.
With Bill Tully, regular first sacker, on the bench because of illness, Ed Buckley switched from second and Dick Merrill went in at the keystone sack. Buckley looked good at the plate for the Crimson garnering two for four, but it was his error that let in the winning run.
