Action on the Crimson baseball front opens this afternoon as a highly-touted Tufts nine invades Soldiers Field, led by their captain and star pitcher, Al Hatch. The game is scheduled for 4 o'clock.
Leading the counter-offensive will be Captain Tom Healey of the Stahlmen, who is out to bag his first victory over Hatch. Healey is smarting under two defeats meted out to him by the Jumbo leader last season.
Cornell Friday
Coach Stahl will go easy on Healey this afternoon, saving him as much as possible for the league opener against a potent Cornell nine at Ithaca on Friday. According to Stahl, the Big Red is the outfit to beat for the league championship. On Saturday, the nine is favored over Pennsylvania in a game to be played at Philadelphia.
Gene Lovett, Junior outfield bulwark, will be missing from the lineup for this afternoon's encounter. His right field berth will be filled by Lee Hartstone, while Sophomore third sacker Burgy Ayres will move up to the No. 4 spot in the batting order. Bob Fulton and Charley Spreyer will share the backstop post, with Lou Clay and Charley Brackett also likely to see action on the hill.
Coach Adolph Samborski's Yardling nine meets Belmont Hill at 4 o'clock on the Freshman diamond.
