Don Donahue, after hopping the hedges for a smooth 7.5 in the 60 yard hurdles had only a sixth place for consolation in the finals. Steve Madey came through with a good 13.3 in the polo vault but weightmen George Downing, Howard Mendel, and Bill Shallow fell off five and six feet from their expected and usual performance. Charlie Smith, showed up well in the 60 yard dash heat, but was crowded out of the money in the semis.
