Far away from College, President Conant celebrates his forty-seventh birthday today on the Pacific coast. Since March 5 he has been away from Cambridge on a trip which has included many of the far-western colleges.
Yesterday at Los Angeles the President was the main speaker at the Charter Day morning ceremonies on the campus of the University of California at Los Angeles, and last night he and President Robert G. Sproul of the University of California were the speakers at a banquet there.
Today he attends a meeting of the Harvard Club of Southern California and during the rest of the month will visit the California Institute of Technology and the University of California and speak to various alumni groups before returning East early in April.
