YALE SWIMMERS STAR AT INTERCOLLEGIATES

Yale came away with most of the honors in the Eastern Intercollegiate swim at Philadelphia over the weekend with Princeton providing the main opposition as Crimson performances were a bit disappointing.

Captain Eric Cutler again had to be content with a second behind Yale's Rene Chouteau in a 4:53.2 quarter, another exceedingly fast race, to add to his second to Eli Howie Johnson in the 220. George Dana came through with a third in the three meter dive, and the Harvard relay foursome of Fraunic Powers, Lonnte Stowell, Cutler, and Jim Curwen took a third in the 400-yard event.

All of the Ulenmen were shunted out of the competition in the century dur- ing the qualifying heats. Curwen's 54 flat effort was just one-tenth of a second over the qualifying limit.

It was left to Ned Parke of Princeton to provide the best individual time of the meet, winning the breastroke in 2:24.8, with only a few weeks of practice in the butterfly race. Charley Colwell of Army nipped famed Howie Johnson in a 52.6 final in the 100
