Fencers Give Cadet Champs Stiff Fight, Falling 14 to 13

For the fourth time this season the fencing team lost by a one-point margin Saturday as a championship Army aggregation proved too strong in epee and sabre and thus gained a 14 to 13 victory.

The Peroymen gave the stellar Cadet sabre team an unexpected battle, losing 5 to 4. Wynne Alberts, in the most thrilling bout of the afternoon, gained a decisive win over Army's brilliant Captain Rorick, while Ben Johnson, switched from foil to sabre, also did a superior job.

Captain Al Labastie easily won all three of his bouts in the 6 to 3 triumph of the Crimson foilmen.

Saturday's showing doesn't look any better on the books than most of the rest of the season's scores. But it was the best fencing the duellists have done this season, with the possible exception of the Seton Hall meet, and it bodes well for the Intercollegiates.
