CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--The drum major of the Harvard College band, Theodore L. Sendak '40, of Gary, Indiana, tonight announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination for joint representative from Lake and Porter Counties in the Indiana General Assembly.
"In making this announcement," the 21-year-old Senior said, "I am prompted by . . . the wide spread demand of Indiana citizens for a non-rubber stamp legislature."
Secretary of the Harvard Young Republican Club and editor of the group's publications, Sendak said he personally knew 5000 residents of the two counties who wanted a "home-grown representative . . . who will remember them after election day."
Now majoring in American state and local government at Harvard, Sendak said he was writing a thesis on "Government of the Northern Indiana Metroplitan Area" where he successfully campaigned for the election of Republican Congressman Robert Grant of South Bend, Indiana.
