With a win over Columbia to its credit and a loss to the league leading Dartmouth quintet on the debit side of the ledger, the Varsity basketball team stands fifth in the seven-team Eastern Intercollegiate League at the end of the second week of competition.

Beside the Indians, Princeton, Yale, and Cornell lead the Crimson with Pennsylvania and Columbia bringing up the rear.

Dartmouth Beats Princeton

The Big Green has three wins and only one loss, an overtime defeat to the last place Columbia Lions, on its record. Led by Stub Pearson with 20 points, the Indians toppled Princeton out of first place Saturday night at Hanover, 56 to 33, to add to their victories over Harvard and Penn.

Princeton boasts wins over Yale and Cornell for a two-and-one record in second place, while Yale has defeated Columbia and Penn and lost to Cornell and the Tigers. The Elis are tied with the Big Red for third.

Four Games This Week

There are four league games coming up this week as Dartmouth and Princeton invade the Indoor Athletic Building on Wednesday, while Penn meets Cornell and Yale visits Hanover on Saturday.

Harvard has played fewer games, two, than any other team in the league and also has scored fewer points, 73, than any of the others. Dartmouth, with four games, has scored 198 points; Yale. 162; and last place Columbia, 138.

Ed Buckley and Captain Charley Lutz lead the Crimson quintet in league scoring, Buckley standing fifteenth with 20 and Lutz nineteenth with 17.
