8 Takeaways From Harvard’s Task Force Reports
Over $52,000 in cash and pledges made up the total share of the University in the Greater Boston Community Fund Campaign which ended last week, according to figures revealed yesterday.
Contributions from students amounted to $2,044.34, including $600 appropriated by the Student Council. The general canvass of the University amounted to $29,277.03, and to this were added the gifts of members and employees of the University made through their residential districts, special gifts, and late pledges.
Half School Quota
The contribution of $29,277.03 credited directly to the Harvard unit was equal to more than half of the quota assigned to forty-one educational institutions, including the University, comprising the School and College Group of Greater Boston.
The total amount raised by the School and College Group was $53,600, of which Harvard contributed 55 per cent, without counting $20,252 of special gifts.
In charge of the University Unit was Edmund P. Learned, Professor of Marketing in the Business School, who served as Company Chairman in succession to Become P. Greene, Secretary to the Corporation, who organized the unit in 1939.
Greene has served for the past two years as chairman of the entire School and College Group.
