With the epee team looking particularly sluggish, the Varsity fencers chalked up an unimpressive 15 1/2 - 11 1/2 win over Brown in their opener Saturday, while the Yardlings took the Bruin freshmen, 17 to 10.

Sabre: Foster (B) beat Joe Laird (H), 5-4. Bob Batt (H) beat Cox (B), 5-2, and lost to John (B), 2-5. Alberts (H) lost to John (B), 4-5, and beat Foster (B), 5-2, and Krasner (B), 5-1. Williams (H) beat Cox (B), 5-3, and John (B), 5-2, and Foster (B), 5-4.
