Yardlings Defeat Milton In Season's First Debate

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The Union Debating Society launched its season last night with a unanimous decision win over Milton Academy at Milton. Harvard upheld the negative side of the question: Resolved: That the United States should declare war on Germany immediately.

Jerry Brown, Theodore S. Baer, and Kingsbury Browne represented the Freshmen before a gathering of over 100 people in the Milton auditorium.

Not a dissenting vote was cast by the Milton faculty members, who acted as judges, in awarding the decision to Harvard.

After the debate an informal reception was held for the members of both debating teams.

The next Yardling debate will be held with Boston Latin School, it was announced by the Council's temporary chairman Robert W. Gillette '44.
