Man Who Managed Clients for High-End Cambridge Brothel Network Pleads Guilty
Hal Ulen's Varsity mermen frolicked their way to a 35 1/2 to 30 1/2 victory over the Alumni in the Indoor Athletic Building pool Saturday night. There were no startling upsets all evening, with most races going along according to schedule, but given a backstroker of any description, the Alumni would have beaten the Varsity.
Rick Cutler provided the great surprise of the evening by turning over on his back for the dorsal leg of the 150-yard medley. He gave Bill Drucker a close race, and the grad trio of Cutler, Greg Jameson, and Charley Hutter tied the Varsity combination of Drucker, Max Kraus, and Dave Stearns in 1:25.2. This ruled Cutler out of the 220, and Captain Frannie Powers and Bus Curwen pulled away from Ed Hewitt in a
Scott Wins Again
The 50 went to George Scott once again in a neat 24.1 clocking, with Don Barker of the Alumni getting a second and Lonnie Stowell of the Varsity a third. Shaw McCutcheon and Brad Patterson got a second and third in the dive behind Rusty Greenhood, (McCutcheon won on a recount Sunday), and the stage was set for the best race of the night. Frannie Powers and Lonnie Stowell finished one-two in a 54.6 century ahead of Scott and Cutler. The Alumni quartet of Barker, Fallon, Scott, and Hutter took the relay in 1:38.2 by a body-length.
Drucker and Al Mathis swept the backstroke 100 in 1:9.5 with almost no opposition, but Rog Wilcox and Max Kraus were nipped by Greg' Jameson in a 1:10.2 breaststroke. That is by far and away the weakest spot on the team, and unfortunately there is slight hope of much improvement. Art Bosworth has not yet reported and will be of great aid to the team both in free-style and backstroke.
