Professors Urge U. S. Take British Oriental Bases

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

In a letter to Senator King (D., Utah), several Harvard Law School professors, among them Dean Landis, have requested that the U. S. acquire British Oriental possessions to strengthen the British position there, and to reduce Britain's war debt to this country.

The letter also appealed for a complete embargo against Japan saying that Japanese supremacy in the Far East would necessitate a U. S. military and naval establishment in the Orient. As a further measure to prevent Japanese hegemony over China, "all aid to China" was recommended in the letter.

Those signing the letter besides Dean Landis included Professors W. Barton Leach, Livingston Hall, and Warren A. Seavey, all of the Law School.
