LAMPY'S TREASURE HUNT WON BY YARDLING FINDING BEANS

Tests Poisoned Prize on Dog Before Claiming His Reward

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

William Frederick Ogden Thomas Jefferson Albert Stifel II '44 of Mower Hall won the Lampoon treasurer hunt yesterday when he found the prize, poison jelly beans and a Spicy Adventure hidden in John Harvard's lap.

The hunt was staged to rival that put on by the Totem Pole ballroom, which recently concealed a number of miniature totem poles about the Yard with the promise that anyone finding them would be admitted free to the club.

Under Radcliffe Pillows

"The first place I thought to look for the dirty magazine was under the pillows of Radcliffe girls," Stifel commented. "However, I abandoned that idea as too uninteresting."

Once having discovered the hidden objects, the prize-winner became curious to know if the beans really contained poison. They were accordingly fed to a dog found straying about the Yard.

"As I watched the dog, he turned slowly over on his side, whined, and after struggling for awhile, died peacefully. I was thus convinced that the beans really contained poison," Stifel stated.

For finding the treasure, he will be rewarded with two tickets to the Old Howard. W. Russell Bowie, Jr. '41, president of the Lampoon explained to a CRIMSON candidate that he would make the presentation in person. "I've been feeling pretty weak lately," he stated.

"I'm going to take my girl," Stifel said. "I don't know very much about her, except that her name is Beverly and I meet her every Saturday morning outside the Washington subway entrance. Wow."
