YARDLING GRIDDERS TO PLAY YALE AT NEW HAVEN TODAY

In the first of the annual Harvard-Yale football clashes this fall, the Freshman teams of the two colleges will meet this afternoon in New Haven, in the Bowl if the turf permits, otherwise on the Freshman playing field.

The Elis, after a slow start, have shown a steady development, and at the present time can boast a well-oiled machine which has not been beaten for over a month. Exeter was the only team to send the Cubs down to defeat, and the Red and Gray also boasts a victory over the Crimson.

Ferguson Eli Threat

Jack Ferguson captains the team and shows considerable talent both as a runner and as a passer. In the 13 to 13 deadlock with the Princeton Freshmen last Saturday Ferguson accounted for both scores when he passed to right end Fred Dent. Frank Mahoney is another Eli back who will warrant watching.

The end department is one in which Coach Reggie Root has no worry. Dent, Jim McTernan, and Tim Hoopes are all outstanding flank men, and should cause the Crimson secondary no end of worry this afternoon. Gene Constant in has been a bulwark of the line from his right tackle post and has made more than his share of tackles in the season now nearly over. Center Bill Over lock has drawn considerable attention by his stellar backing up of the Eli line.

Blanchard at Quarterback

The team which Chief Boston will field against this powerful New Haven machine varies only a little from that which started against Dartmouth. George Blanchard, until this week a guard, has been shifted to the backfield, and by virtue of his deadly blocking will start in the blocking back post. Antie Mason, out of the Dartmouth game with a bruised rib, is back in service again and will play at center.

The two private fends between Al Aldrich and John Teal for the left end post and "Swede" Anderson and Tom Cowen for the fullback berth are still going strong, with the eventual starter in each of these positions as yet unknown.

Captain Steve Mallett and Fred Parson will be as usual at the tackles, and Doug DeCoster and George Lawrence will fill the guards. The reliable combine of Wayne Johnson and Oleo O'Donnell will take care of the two halfback spots.
