Hanfstaengl '09, Former Friend Of Hitler, Held in Prison Camp

Canadians Keep Sophomore's Father In "Protective Custody"

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Ernst ("Putzi") Hanfstaengl '09, former Nazi foreign press chief and piano playing friend of Hitler, is being held in "protective custody" in a Canadian concentration camp, according to his son, Egon Hanfstaengl '43, who yesterday said that he had recently received letters from his father.

Hanfstaengl is allowed to write 27 lines a week from his prison "overlooking a lake" somewhere in Canada. Apparently well taken care of, the prisoner complained of boredom and has asked his son to send him extra clothes because of the severe Canadian climate. Hanfstaengl was transferred from England sometime in July.
