A decision to help in the securing of volunteer students to aid in the draft registration and the appointment of four standing committees to serve through the year were the chief items on the slate of the Student Council at its first meeting last night.

"The Student Council is cooperating with the Defense Committee of Cambridge (appointed by the mayor under the Governor's mandate) to get student volunteers to help register men for the draft on October 16," a statement issued after the meeting said.

Students who speak foreign languages and would like to volunteer as interpreters will please get in touch with the Student Council representative from their House. Registration and clerical volunteers may also be needed. We hope that students will cooperate with Cambridge in this important matter."

E. Langdom Burwell '41 of Eliot House as treasurer of the Council, will head the Finance Committee. Working with him will be Charles Gilfix, Jr. '41; John P. Bunker '42; Benjamin A. Barnes '41; and Harry Hornblower, Jr. '41.

Spencer Klaw '41 was named to head the Standing Committee on Education with Engene D. Keith '42, Joseph P. Lyford '41, Loren G. Mac Kinney '42, and John C. Robbins, Jr. '42 as co-members.
