Local Draft Board To Classify 2500 Out of State Registrants

All Students Who Wish Transfer Should Write Home Board At Once; Most Will Be Automatically Deferred Until July 1st College Doctors Will Aid In Physical Exams

Into the hands of Draft Board 47 in the basement of Phillips Brooks House will fall the fate of 2500 Harvard men. Five volunteer workers from Precinct Two will handle the classification and physical examinations of all those living at our of state addresses, although their local boards will still retain jurisdiction.

In order that men should not be called home for interviews they should write their local board a letter similar to the one printed at the bottom of the page within the next week.

While the dumping of some 2500 additional draftees on the local board will almost double their total, it will not entail a great deal of additional work. The classification of college students is a routine matter for the most part with few problems of dependency or "necessary occupation" likely to arise. college doctors have volunteered to assist with the physical examinations.

With the posting of the serial number lists today the local board completes the initial phase of its work. It is handling just under three thousand Cambridge residents. Questionnaires will be sent to these people immediately following the lottery on Tuesday in the order of their availability.
