FOOTBALL SQUAD GRINDS FOR ARMY

Team Seeks Win Over Soldiers; Lee and Dietz Out Temporarily

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Harvard is gunning for its first major game victory of the year against the Army this Saturday and is sparing no efforts in preparations. Dick Harlow drove his men through a long hour workout yesterday afternoon, even bringing out the white ball.

Fran Lee and Lone Star Dietz were still suffering from Wolverine bruises and did not participate, but Hurgy Ayres returned for regular duty. He will be ready to go against the Cadets at top speed, leaving Don McNicol the only man on the injured list.

Army was outclassed last week so Harvard scouts couldn't tell much about its offense except that it was fine until it reached the line of scrimmage. This same Army team, however, trimmed Columbia in a practice tilt and has a real trio of triple-threat backs. The Crimson spent a full hour yesterday learning what to expect from Jere Maupin, Hank Mazur, and John Hatch.

There will be a monster football rally on Friday afternoon with speeches, the band, cheers, flares, and all the rest of the trimmings.
