Five per cent of Italians living in this country are outright Fascists, while another 35 per cent might easily "crystallize" into a Fascist group at the first emergency, Professor Gaetane Salvemini believes.
Lauro de Bosis lecture on the History of Italian Civilization here. Professor Salvemini prepared a study of Italian Fascist activities in the United States, issued Saturday by the American Council on Public Affairs.
He found that only 10 per cent of Italians are definitely anti-Fascist, and that 50 per cent are too busy earning their livelihood to be concerned with American or Italian politics. Few Italian immigrants would be dangerous to the U.S., if they were left alone by their government, Professor Salvemini says.
