Dr. Pedro Henriquez Urena, Charles Eliot Norton Professor of Poetry, will give his first public lectures at Harvard tonight at Sanders Theatre at 8 o'clock in a special meeting sponsored by the Spanish Club in commemoration of Columbus Day and in the interests of inter-American goodwill.

Tonight Dr. Henriquez Urena will speak in Spanish on the subject "El Sentido de la Cultura Espanola" ("The Meaning of Spanish Culture").

It was also announced today that Dr. Henriquez Urena's series of public lectures in English, as Norton Professor, will begin on November 6. The subject of this series will be "The Search for Expression: Literary and Artistic Creation in Spanish America."

Dr. Henriquez Urena will hold office hours every Thursday afternoon, 4 to 5 o'clock, in Widener, Room 272, and will welcome students wishing to consult him.

The Norton Professor is distinguished as a poet, critic, and literary historian, and is especially known as an interpreter of Spanish America to the outside world. He has taught at many universities in the United States, Mexico, and South America, and has been a public education official in Mexico and in his native Dominican Republic.

The Spanish Club program tonight, to be broadcast internationally by the Boston shortwave station WRUL, will include musical selections; greetings by Jose A. Godoy, Director of Inter-American programs for WRUL; a welcome by Thomas G. Allen 4G., president of the Club; and an address by Professor Gustave A. de Aragon, of Boston University.
