1942 NINE LAMBASTES SCHOOLBOY TEAM, 25-6

Ed Buckley waved his big hickory twice in the long eighth inning, connecting each time for a home run, to pace his Yardling teammates to a overwhelming 25 to 6 triumph over an overrated Huntington School nine yesterday afternoon on the Soldiers Field diamond. Go you Gopher!

Samborski's boy's urned in a fine all around job with the hitting scattered well down the batting order. Guy Meli, Bud Finnegan, Les Pitchford, Chuck Ayres, and Captain Mike Rice each hit for solid base knocas with Meli collecting four bingles in six times at bat and Ayres smashing out a long triple.

It was the fifteenth victory for the Yearling nine, out of seventeen starts, and vindicates them for their loss to Lawrence Academy earlier in the season. Huntington recently had turned back the Academy boys and were rated as possible favorites in yesterday's game.

Milton will be host to the Yardlings this afternoon on the schoolboy diamond in what promises to be a breather for the 1942 batters. Saturday, the Yale Freshman nine will invade Soldiers Field in the season's finale.
