Winthrop, Eliot, Kirkland, and Lowell Second Crews Qualify for Final Heats

Winthrop, Eliot, and Lowell House teams turned in victories yesterday in the House sports race as the dates for two important events were officially set.

The Puritan and Elephant second crews won their respective heats in the inter-House regatta to gain places in the finals Wednesday afternoon. Kirkland and Lowell, having won second places heats, will also be represented.

Winthrop Wins With Slow Time

The first heat was won by Winthrop in the time of 8:07.6, slow for the excellent conditions, and, in fact, slower than the times of each of the three crews in the second heat. Dunster and Kirkland trailed, while a crew from the Business School actually nosed out the Puritans for an unofficial first place.

All three teams in the second heat finished under eight minutes, headed by the Elephants who crossed the line in 7:49 to lead the Lowell crew by a length and a hair. Leverett, finishing in 7:56, was third in the heat. The race yesterday completed the bracket of second crews.

Track Dates Announced

Cancelled yesterday on account of rain, the inter-House track meet will be run off Thursday and Friday according to Adolph W. Samborski '25, director of intramural athletics. Field events will come on Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock while the running events will be said the next afternoon.

The House baseball team which is to meet a Yale team on Saturday, May 27, will be decided tomorrow afternoon when the two teams tied for first place, Lowell and Adams, meet in a post-season game. Charley Lutz will take the mound for the Gold Cosstoers while Dick Story will hurl for the Lowell team. The Bell boys are pinning their offensive hopes on slugging Joepy Lyford, the League's outstanding hitter.

Whatever the results of the game, each team will receive an equal number of points in the Straus Trophy race. The meeting is only for the purpose of deciding which team is to meet Yale.

Lowell Golfers Triumph

The undefeated Lowell House golf team won its sixth straight victory at the expense of Adams yesterday afternoon by the score of 9 to 0. Over a rain-swept course, the Bellboys, anchored by John Van Lannigan's first two-figure score, completely outclassed their rivals.
