Freshman Batters Triumph, Over Worcester Nine, 5 to 2

Never headed after they got off to a three run lead in the first inning, the Yardling nine, behind the steady four hit pitching of Lou Clay, went on to nose out a persistent Worcester Academy team, 5 to 2, Saturday afternoon, at Soldiers Field.

Sparking the Samborski outfit was Gil Whittemore, whose bludgeon accounted for two singles and a two base hit in four trips to the plate. Clay, on the mound, again turned in a creditable performance holding the opposition hitless until the fifth inning.
