PETITION TO RETAIN HICKS HAS ALMOST 200 SIGNATURES

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Almost 200 signatures have been obtained on the petition urging retention of Granville Hicks '23 on the faculty, its sponsors estimated last night, and hopes were expressed that they would exceed their early forecast of 250 by Friday.

Particularly canvassed yesterday were faculty members of the government Department in order that authoritative opinion might be expressed on Hicks teaching ability.

Hicks himself, who was surprised by the petition, said that it was too early to make any statement although he was gratified by the support given him by his students.
