Carnival's Prompt Telegram Averts Week End Crisis

A drought of liquid refreshment was averted at the Dartmouth Carnival by official leniency and a quick wire to the state capital, when the disappearance of the liquor license of the Dartmouth Outing Club threatened disaster Friday night.

The Outing Club, which is in charge of the annual winter frolic in Hanover, first noticed that the all-important document was missing Saturday morning. Simultaneously a cut of the license appeared in the CRIMSON.

Last night it was learned from J. Wilcox Brown, general manager of the club, that the University officials had taken no action, and that a permit had been wired from the Liquor Commission at Concord, New Hampshire.

News of a possibly non-alcoholic Carnival broke too late to prevent the usual exodus from Northampton, Wellesely, and Poughkeepsie. Outing Club officials said that the festival was as "gay, popular, and boisterous as ever."
