Entering its first year as a University-recognized sport, the rifle team is looking forward to its most promising season in many years, according to James W. Cooper '41, secretary of the team's sponsoring organization, the Rifle Club.

Under the coaching of Sergeant Phinney, crack shot of the Marines' Barracks, the team mostly composed of veterans of last year seems to be one of the best teams in many years.

Among the opponents in shoulder-to-shoulder matches are Boston University, M.I.T., Bowdoin, and Yale. Because of the distance to many of the competing teams, some matches will be conducted by mail.
