"Bury the Dead" to Be Revived In Sanders This Evening at 8:30

Radcliffe Girls and a Model Are Cast in Student Union Play

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

"No," retorted pretty Joan Todd, Radcliffe '41, her blue eyes flashing, "I didn't learn to do it on my dates with Harvard men!" She was referring to the rafter-rattling shriek which climaxes her main scene in the Student Union production of Irwin Shaw's "Bury the Dead," scheduled for Sanders Theatre tonight and tomorrow.

The popular resident of Eliot Hall has the part of "Mrs. Dean" in this socially- conscious play about war-killed men who refuse to leave the rosy world for a slimy grave. The play was held over when it was produced two years ago in New York, and secured its author a Hollywood contract.

Five Smooth Radcliffe Girls

Rehearsing since November 17, under the direction of Hugh T. Cunningham, Yale '34, tutor in History and Literature in Dunster House, assisted By Jonas Muller '40, the cast is striving for a repetition of the success last year of the Student Union revival of Marc Blitzstein's musical prognostication. "The Cradle Will Rock."

Boasting five smooth Radcliffe girls and a dress model, the cast includes many veterans of the "Cradle" production.

Myron Simons '40, "Dean" in this play, was acclaimed by Blitzstein for his interpretation of "Junior Mr." last year. Miss Frances Morison, of Cambridge, is another veteran of the "Cradle." She will play "Joan Burke," mistress of one of the dead men.

Other Members of the Cast

In addition to playing "Charlie," Julian Hodberg '42, a veteran of summer stock in the East, also designed the set.

Besides Miss Todd, the following Radcliffe girls will be in the cast tonight: Claire Rabinowitz '42 as "Martha Webster"; Barbara Scherer '42 as "Bess Shelling"; Sophie Reagan '42 as "Katherine Driscoll"; and Barbara Gatchell '43 as "Julia Blake."

Other members of the cast are: Hugh S. Barbour '42, John Holdberg '42, Robert Stange '41, Arthur Cantor '40, Arthur Porter '40, Clarence Burley '42, Robert Markewich '40, Stephen Van O. Osher '41, Ben Gill '40, Rufus Mathewson '41, Norman Johnson '42, Charles Griffith '40, John B. Rand '43, John Darr '40, Hal Solomon '43, Herbert Weiner '43, Julian Lazarus '40.
