Garfield H. Horn '40 of Winthrop House and Long Beach, California was cited by the House scholarship committee for general "intellectual merit" at the Christmas dinner last night. President Conant made the award, a pair of silver candlesticks.

The prize is awarded each year to a Senior in the House by the staff to tutors and professors. Last year Robert M. Bunker '39 was the honored student. The tradition extends back to the founding of the House.

Horn is editorial chairman of the CRIMSON, Second marshal of Phi Beta Kappa and a member of signet.
