R. G. PAINE TO BE '40 GRID MANAGER; KING WINS FOR '41

New Incumbent to Take Office Today; Place, Day, Walker Chosen From Yardlings

Robert G. Paine '41, of Weston, will succeed John McD. Atherton 2nd '40, of Glenview Kentucky, as Varsity football manager, it was announced after the game on Saturday. As winner of the Sophomore competition last year and assistant to Atherton this fall, he will automatically succeed to the Varsity post. Paine is a graduate of Middle-sex School.

At the same time Franklin King, Jr. '42, of Chestnut Hill, was named the winner of the Sophomore competition. A graduate of Noble and Groenough he will assist Paine next year and be Varsity manager as a senior.

W. Tyler Peabody, Jr. '42 of Melrose, was second in the Sophomore competition, and will manage the Jayvee team. Third man in the competition was Richard M. Jackson, also of Chestnut Hill, who will be an associate manager and will also manage the Freshman team next fall. Peabody attended Melrose High, and Jackson is a graduate of Saint Palls.

David E. Place '43, who was chosen Freshman manager for the Yale game, and his two assistants, Rufus Walker '43 and George VanB. Day '43, will be in next year's Sophomore competition.
