ELIOT DOWNS BUNNIES 7-6, FOR FIRST VICTORY

Russell, Brew, Couch Spark Elephants To Triumph as Tyng Paces Leverett In Close Game

Eliot's courageous Elephants came through in the pinches to gain their first victory in the last game of the House football season winning from Leverett, 7 to 6, when Bunny Hunt Hamill's kick for the extra point hit the crossbar and bounced back into the playing field.

The Merrimen took the ball into Bunny territory only once, but that was enough. Don Brew heaved a long pass to Dave Henderson to start the rally in the first quarter, and on the next play Bob Russell scampered around end for 17 yards, putting the ball on the three yard line. Russell then took the ball over on a line plunge, and Brew kicked the vital point.

Leverett spent most of the afternoon in the Eliot half of the field, and when the final whistle blew the Bunnies had the ball on the Elephant three inch line with four downs in which to cross the goal.

Russell, Brew, and Bill Couch were the sparkplugs of the winning eleven while Bill Tyng paced the Leverett squad. Vint Freedley scored the Bunny touchdown.
