GRIDMEN IN SHAPE FOR INDIAN CLASH

HALLETT IS OUT

By Donald Peddie

Late yesterday afternoon the Varsity football squad caught some of the pep and drive which has been missing in many other practice sessions, and Dick Harlow pulled out a white ball for the first time this fall to give the team a final signal drill.

Observers pronounced the workout as the best of the year for the Harlowmen, and some of the gloom hanging over the Crimson gridiron camp lifted. Darkness and a heavy mist didn't dampen spirits as the Varsity ran through their plays with reckless abandon.

Hallett Out

The injury list is steadily dwindling, and at the present time Captain Torbie Macdonald and Mose Hallett are the only men who are definitely lost for the clash with the Big Green. Joe Koufman, Ernie Sargeant, and Burgy Ayres all worked with the A team yesterday and should be ready to go tomorrow. All three have missed most of the contact work this week in order to get back into first-class shape.

It was announced the day before yesterday that Macdonald would not be available for duty against Dartmouth, but it was not until yesterday that final judgment was pronounced on Hallett. The big Junior tackle received a leg bump in Wednesday's scrimmage which sidelined him, but he will play against Princeton.

Yesterday's practice featured 45 minutes of defensive scrimmage against Skip Stahley's Wildcats. The Yardlings presented one team to face the A team and another for the B outfit. Don McNicol impersonated Wild Bill Hutchinson of the Green, and gave the Varsity a pretty fair idea of what to expect in the Stadium tomorrow. Earlier in the afternoon, Harlow conducted the squad through a long drill on pass defense and offense. Today's workout will probably be only a tapering off process, and Harlow may give a few more definite indications on some of the doubtful starting posts in the lineup.

The Indians arrive late this afternoon at Tufts College in Medford and will be rushed to Soldiers Field for a short limbering up session before dusk. After that they will return to Belmont to spend the night. The Crimson are not planning to leave Cambridge.
