DRUM MAJORETTES FOR BAND WILL BE JUDGED BY CRIMSON

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Following a growing cry for "sex in the band," the CRIMSON this morning announces a competition for aspiring Drum Majorettes to come from near and far. Entrants to the "Gateway to Harvard" contest will be judged early next week.

National American Legion champion, Jeanne Ladd of Swampscott, has already indicated her willingness to throw over Swampscott High for a Harvard affiliation, saying "they're nice boys; they generally get what they want?" Other fast-stepping twirlers are expected to follow Jeanne's lead.

The demand for a "high-stepping, tastefully exposed majorette" is new in Ivy League circles. But the feminine addition to bands had been generally accepted in middlewestern and fall west colleges, which have recognized that "sex is here to stay."
