MUMFORD WILL SPEAK ABOUT ARCHITECTURE

Famous Historian Will Open Series of Lectures and Seminars Open to All Students in Design

Lewis Mumford, historian and editor of the "New Republic," will give the first of six lectures on "The Back-grounds of American Architecture" in New Lecture Hall on Tuesday, November 7, at 8 o'clock.

Sponsored by the American Civilization Plan and the Graduate School of Design, his other lectures will be on Thursday, November 9; Tuesday, November 14; Thursday, November 16; Tuesday, November 21, and Thursday, November 23. Mumford will also conduct several seminars open to students in the Graduate School of Design and the undergraduate Department of Architectural Sciences.

The American Civilization Plan is also holding smaller meetings at the Houses and the Union. Last night Ruport Emerson '21, associate professor of Government, spoke on "Roots of American Jingoism" at Dunster House, while crane Brinton '19, associated professor of History, discussed "is History a Sciences" at the Union.
