ELIOT SWIMMERS WIN TO TAKE FIRST PLACE

Gain Undisputed Possession of Lead As Lowell Sinks Favored Kirkland In Last Event

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Eliot's undefeated swimmers submerged Leverett by the overwhelming score of 53 to 7 yesterday afternoon in the University pool to gain undisputed possession of first place in the inter-House standings as Kirkland was knocked off by the Lowell team, 35 to 26.

Led by Colles Stowell, who performed the amazing feat of taking three first places, Eliot ran up a huge total in first and second places. Stowell took firsts in the 50-yard free-style, the 100 yard free-style, and the back stroke.

Bill Cann of Eliot took first in diving and second in the 50-yard free-style to be second highest in the scoring in the meet. Dunster defaulted for the third straight time, although two Funsters, willing and ready to swim, did show up at the appointed time, Both Eliot and Leverett were given victories over Dunster.

Bellboys Down Kirkland

The Bellboys nosed out Kirkland in the final event, the relay, to score an upset over the hitherto undefeated Deacons. The two teams were two points apart before the event, but Lowell's relay team composed of Harry Hammond Wheeler Smith, Douglas Sears, and Sam McClellan beat the Kirkland mermen by a scant two yards in a nip and tuck race.

Lowell took Dudley, 42 to 19, while Kirkland beat the Commuters 45 to 16. High scorer of the Bellboys was Sam McClellan with a first in the 100-yard free style, a second in the 50-yard free style, and the anchor position in the winning relay team.

Pinto of Dudley took the individual scoring honors for the meet with firsts in the back stroke and the 200-yard free-style. Conger of Kirkland won the 50-yard free style and took second in the 100-yard race.
