Man Who Managed Clients for High-End Cambridge Brothel Network Pleads Guilty
The new Freshman class is a pretty serious minded bunch of men--or so one would gather from vocational data recently collected by Phillips Brooks House about the men of 1942.
With law their most favored occupation, there are no prospective organ grinders, street-sweepers or WPA employees listed as the great majority of Freshmen showed they came to college with a definite career already in view.
Money Minor Interest
The most interesting fact revealed is that on the whole the current Freshman is not interested in making money. Some of the 79 who voted for law may think they are going to get rich, but there can be no illusions of wealth in the minds of the 60 and 47 who voted for medicine and teaching, respectively.
Next come the money makers, 33 of them, who plan to enter business administration, but after that there is another turn away from lucrative professions as 16 go for journalism, 15 for chemistry, 12 for "writing", 11 for politics or public service and 10 each for the foreign service and engineering.
Wide Range
Another fact, more to be expected in a group of 1000 young men, is that they have spread their choices over a range of 50 different professions.
Here is the complete list of those PBH lists, with 73 of those asked answering that they were still undecided:
Law 79; Medicine 60; Teaching 47; Business Administration 33; Journalism 16; Chemistry 15; Writing 12; Politics and Public Service 11; Foreign Service 10; Engineering 10; Chemical Engineering 8; Ministry 8;
Architecture, Banking, 4 each; Advertising, Astronomy, Certified Accountant, Biological Research, Electrical Communications, History, Museum Work, Sociologist, 2 each; Army Officer, Stage Design, Furniture Design, Engineering, Astrophysics, Accountant, Cotton, Paint, Shipping, Broker, Biochemistry, Organic Chemistry, Dentistry, Dramatics, Forestry, Mathematics, Orchestra Conductor, Radio, Oil Geology, Oil Industry, Meteorology, 1 each.
