LATEST OFFICIAL RUMOR HAS BUCHAN IN LINE FOR DEGREE

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Making an additional award of a Harvard honorary degree, the Metropolitan press last night reported that John Buchan, Baron Tweedsmuir and Governor General of Canada, will come here to be so distinguished Commencement Day.

Earlier in the year the Crown Prince of Sweden had been designated by insiders outside the University as a prospective degree winner.

Both the notable Europeans may actually be on hand, but as usual Harvard authorities last night maintained a "discreet silence." The names of honorary degree recipients remain an official mystery up to the very moment of President Conant's citation.
