George Apley '92 Writes to Bulletin in Hicks Dispute

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Maintaining stoutly that George Apley '92 in the current number of the magazine is a penname for an actual author, John D. Merrill '89 editor of the Alumni Bulletin, last night cleared his publication of charges of deteriorating into the funny paper category of the CRIMSON or Advocate.

Applying a sarcastic, or not so sarcastic, quietus to the Hicks appointment controversy, Apley's letter is not bogus, as was first suspected by readers this week.

Mr. Apley, it seems, has discovered that in addition to this Communist Hicks there are already two hunchbacks or rather albiuoes, on the Faculty. And he strongly protests their continuing in these positions:

"What are we coming to, I say. For all anyone knows, these men may be moral perverts and as I remarked to my wife, they probably are. Imagine exposing our Youth to this kind of thing. It is American. It makes my blood bell."
