JEROME H. DEAN COMMENDS PLAN OF JAMES B. CONANT

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Words of praise for President Conant's idea to limit college enrolment were forthcoming from Dizzy Dean, new ailing Chicago Cubs pitcher, who was interviewed after yesterday's game.

At first he blinked a little at the name of Conant, as if he remembered player of the name. Upon being assured that Conant was the bona fide president of Harvard, the better half of "Me and Paul" declared, "He is dead right, he's O.K.; there's a plenty of rich guys that shoot their kids off to college and then watch 'em fold up and get useless." Thoughtfully he added, "It's a pity, that's what it is, a pity."

Dean seemed to want to know more about "this guy Conant," so he was informed of the Hicks question. This was a little too baffling, however, and he was more interested in telling his interviewer about how he was "gonna mow 'em down" after ten days or so. The pride of Deanville also had no comment to make on the Littauer School of Public Administration.
