Another animal was added to the Lowell House collection last night when Gilbert, a somewhat whimsical king-snake, made his debut at the Bellboys' annual Spring Dance, creating a mild sensation as he squirmed along a dinner-table among the ladies.
Gilbert, according to his chaperon, William A. Ryan '40, halls from Texas, where he used to romp around and he poisonous. Since then he has had his poison machinery, fangs and all, extracted.
Just why king-snakes and Boston debs seemed incompatible could not be explained by Gilbert last night, but the smile on his face as he splashed round in a rum-and coca-cola seemed to show that he didn't give a damn.
