YACHT CLUB SKIPPERS STAGE FIRST REGATTA

TEN OTHERS COMPETE ON ONE-MILE TRIANGULAR COURSE

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Twelve sail boats raced yesterday afternoon on the Charles River Basin in the newly formed Harvard Yacht Club's first regatta. Competition was for positions on the team which will face crews from Yale, Princeton, Williams, Cornell, Dartmouth, Brown, and M.I.T. tomorrow and Sunday.

James A. Rousmaniere '40 and John N. Fulham were chosen to represent the University this week-end after three races in a stiff breeze which provided a test for skippers and crews. The Club used dinghies borrowed from the M.I.T. Sailing Association for the occasion, but hopes to have boats of its own by next week, purchased with funds from the dues of its 30 members.

Membership Drive Planned

Scoring for the three races was done on the basis of one point for each boat beaten and one point for finishing. Results were as follows: Rousmaniere, 34; Fulham, 30; Hutton, 29; Dowsett, 27; Haskell, 24; Burnett, 21; Chandler, 18; Lloyd, 17; Kennedy, 12; Tucker, 12; and Burr, 8.

The races were held over a triangular mile-long course starting from the Technology sailing pavilion. Thirteen foot dinghies, specially built for Tech three years ago, were used. Racing is open to all members of the College, and the Club's officers are planning a membership drive.
