HDC DENIES IT HAS JILTED RADCLIFFE FOR DEBUTANTES

Samuel L. M. Cole '40, president of the Harvard Dramatic Society, last night, denied charges emanating from Radcliffe Dean's office that in order to substitute debutantes in leading roles, his organization had cooked up the story to the effect that Radcliffe girls had been barred from acting in its forthcoming production because the leading parts were undignified.

A spokesman for Mrs. Wilbur K. Jordan, Dean of undergraduates, said yesterday that no "censorship" had been invoked, and expressed the opinion that the H. D. C. had been wanting to get rid of Radcliffe girls for some time.

Cole said, "I think no Radcliffe Dean said anything of the sort. I am fully cognizant of the dependence of the Harvard Dramatic Club on Radcliffe girls, and the Idler Club in particular for its success."
