Amid an uproar of dispute on parliamentary procedure, and a bitter battle over the issues, the Harvard Student Union finally recorded a favorable 5636 vote on the first platform of the Vassar program providing for active measures against aggressor nations.
Among other measures, the H.S.U. supported the peace demonstration to the tune of 49-5, and rejected the Ludlow amendment, 40-24. These were points five and six respectively. They expressed their opposition to a withdrawal of troops in China, point four. and supported the third plank providing for abolition of the M-day and of the sky-rocketing military budget.
At the start of the meeting. Paul Olum was elected treasurer of the H. S. U. on a second ballot. The minute the floor was thrown open to debate on the first point of the Vasear platform.
