With the final matches in the light weights concluded, the inter-House wrestling contests are well on the way toward their final stages tomorrow. Victor in the 118 pound class was Richard M. Noyes '39 (Kirkland), while Walter E. Newbert '40 (Eliot) and Joseph H. Elcock '38 (Kirkland) took the titles in the 126 and 135 pound classes respectively.
Clashing for the 145 pound championship among the Houses, David D. Malcolm of Kirkland House will endeavor to keep his house in the lead against John Keppel of the Elephants. 155 pounder Arthur Gray '40 of the Pioneers will vie with Peter E. Illman '40 from Adams, who was captain of last year's Freshman wrestling team.
The semi-finals of the 165 pound weight are closely contested by Franklin B. Snyder '38, Bellboy, G. F. Fox ocC, from Eliot, Ralph B. Murphy '39, another Bellboy, and Graham B. Blaine, Jr. '40 of the Elephants. Blaine showed considerable knowledge of wrestling when he pinned Daniel Weiss '39 of the Deacons to gain his position.
In the heavy weights, four 175 men will fight it out for the title. Edward S. Babcox, Jr. '39 (Leverett) defeated David Emerson '38 of the Elephants for one position, with William H. Sleeper snagging another berth by downing Orrin J. Van Dyck '38. Stephen H. Powelson '38, a Rabbitt, overcame Carter H. White '38 (Eliot) to stay in the running, and Benjamin G. Ferris '40 of Winthrop toppled John N. Fulham '40 of Dunster.
Unlimited men to rate in the finals are John P. Armstrong '40 a pioneer and Lewis of Lowell House. The former hacked his way to a victory over redheaded Clarence H. Baum 1G.B. of Kirkland. Lewis managed to reap a victory from Tudor Gardiner '40, who has wrestled in one match for the Varsity.
The runner ups in the three light weights were: Hunt Hamill '40 of Leverett House, who wrestled in the 118 pound class, John I. Regan registered in the 125 pound weight, and Langdon W. Mend '39 in the 135.
