Members Write President, Making Him Honorary Member--Seek Attendance At Frolic

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The letter reads as follows:

"Dear Mr. President:

"This letter is addressed to you not as President of the United States, but as a former newspaperman working in the city of Cambridge. We know that during your college days you became President of the Harvard Crimson on after covering assignments, chasing interviews, editing copy, etc.

"We would be pleased, therefore, if you would accept an honorary membership in the Cambridge Press Club, whose membership is limited to men who are now, or previously have been actively engaged in the newspaper business in the City of Cambridge. The Press Club is holding its annual Frolic and Ball Tuesday evening, March 1 at the Hotel Continental, Cambridge. Our members, to a man would be delighted if you could find it possible to attend the Frolic as a guest of the Club.

"In case you find it difficult to leave your assignments in Washington, we would be willing--in keeping with newspaper tradition--to send one of our best men to cover them for you temporarily during your visit to Cambridge. We hope you can plan to attend."
