WELLESLEY WOMEN WHIP LAMPOON'S LOGY LOUTS

DEMON DUNKER DROPS DECISION TO FOOLISH FRANCES

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

With its widely-heralded spelling contest a flop, the Lampoon editors retired into the inner depths of their pie-shaped building last night after a humiliating 23-2 defeat at the hands of the Wellesley newspaperwomen.

Although common words were used, the funnymen's quartet of William Calfee, Robert M. Duncker, Fourdoor Gardiner and W. C. T. U. Reid proved totally incapable of dealing with the situation. Lampy's humility reached its height when Calfee spelled "six" with an "e".

Wellesley stole a march on the Lampooners when they got a free dinner in the Mount Auburn Street den; then they got their own dictionary introduced as the arbiter of the advertising-contract sponsored "clash."

After it was all over Wellesley went home with its honor vindicated and the Lampoon has its advertising to compensate it for a dull evening. Snorted President Calfee: "They were better at lexicon than looks."
